The poignant memoir

Own Hope is the inspirational true story of a woman who moves to New York and joins the Circus
Arts program as a teacher to young performing artists.

Author Marianna Marra, a therapeutic recreation specialist has inspired and worked with
children for more than half her life. Her funny and heartwarming anecdotes about her own life
and the lives of the talented children she influences along the way will take you on her
remarkable journey of hope.

As a teacher of dance, vocal music, drama, poise, and etiquette, Marra recalls the moments when
the children visibly leaped forward to achieve more than they could ever have imagined. Through
her patient words and the universal language of dance, Marianna shares how she taught these
children, who had already seen much adversity and pain in their young lives, how to dream,
develop their appreciation for each other, and pursue life with tenacity and perseverance.

Own Hope will empower you to explore how you can make a difference in the life of another
person, ultimately encouraging them to first believe, then hope, and finally, make their dreams
come true.

This is me as SPARKLE the clown.
This is my bunny Scarlet.
Clowning is very hard work!
Making others smile is magnificent!

These are the tap dance shoes of
a very young and talented
performer. Make noise AND
have fun? How great is THAT?!

Write down a few valuable facts:
Snowflakes can be blue or purple.
The grass doesn't have to be green
The sky doesn't have to be blue.
Smiles are free.
Hugs are free too.
All gifts are precious.

All children need to be heard and have important words to share.
A smile, a hug, or a hand on a shoulder may not mend a person's broken heart
or ease the pain or the grief involved in the loss of a loved one, or heal emotional abuse, but
sometimes, it may make this person feel less alone and less afraid.

Decide how you want to bring
HOPE into the life of another person.

INVENT it.
NURTURE it.
SHARE it
OWN it.
HOPE.
Hope is a life skill. OWN it today.
Be the inspiration. Someone is thanking you now.
